Research for Music Video : what is the function of a Music Video?

What is the function of a music video?
There are many functions to the criteria of creating and publishing a music a video. One of which those purposes, is to promote the artist , their song/album and eventually increase the fan size.

Music Videos are consumed through many technologies such as: YouTube, MTV, other music television programmes, Vevo etc.

Here is a Music video from two well known rappers: Tyga - Switch Lanes Feat The Game

This a prime example for a rap music video. This video contains a luminous popular venue, cars, women, chains, lots of flashy lights. This is all done to entertain the audience/fans. A music video has to purposely intrigue and entertain the people that watch the video. This means that the video has to contain appealing visual images that match with the lyrics or tempo of the song. In this video the song title 'Switch Lanes' is referring to cars hence all the very expensive cars shown in the video. This is done to purposely show the audience how wealthy these rappers are and also make the video look very entertaining to watch.

The use of the cars, girls, chains, flashing lights in this video is evidently used to engage the viewer visually and audibly. Also the clothing in this video is very extreme. The rapper wearing a costumised 'Lois Vuitton' mask to symbolise how wealthy he is. This attracts the audience as it seemingly looks 'cool' as well as being a fan of his music.
