Lessons In June: What Was Learnt

Lessons In June: What Was Learnt

We learnt the definition and function of a music video.
"music video or song video is a short film integrating a song and imagery, produced for promotional or artistic purposes."

We also learnt that the production of a music video utilizes a very different structure to TV drama, which is what we researched throughout AS.
Different camera and editing techniques are used in music videos as it is not a film, and therefore, the visual representation has to be made clear without the use of dialogue. Although, some music videos do feature dialogues either at the beginning or end of the video.
We learnt that music videos gain no money as they are not brought. They are simply made for the purpose of the artist's/band's popularity and fame. A music video can at times lure people in more than the actual song, which is how the artist gains fans.

Overall, a music video helps the artist's singles and albums to increase in sales through raising the artist's popularity.

The purpose of a music video is to promote the artist and their songs. This is done by emphasising the artist's talents visually, keeping the audience engaged. This is also done by making the song more memorable for the audience.

Lastly, we discovered the first ever music video to be made and released.
