Purpose of a music video

The function of a music video is to entertain the target audience and promote the artist/s. This is done by appealing to what the target audience usually enjoy and using what has been successful in other music videos of the same genre e.g when a rock group uses dark clothing and themes rather than bright colours and fun like in a pop video.

I believe rapper YG does this well in his video Left Right
I believe their a great example of this as they use lots of generic signifiars associated with the rap genre.
we see in the video they are in the rough side of LA a group of black gangsters throw a party in the street with girls shaking butts to the camera to show how many girls they've got, showing off their low-rider cars, lots of costume changes to show their best clothes and lots of people to show how many people they know. a big sense of community is seen throughout the video as they show off the area they live in, especially important for gangster rappers as it shows off where they cam from wasnt easy and the area they represent.
The video's use of these signifiars make it easy to appeal and entertain young male rap fans,

as we see it's common for rappers to show off with women or big events seen here
