Evaluation of Lip Sync Project

Evaluation of Lip Sync Project

Strengths:
  • The special effects done through post-production (black and white filter) gave a real and mellow effect to the music video, which worked well with the lyrics of the song as they, too, are melancholic lyrics.
  • The manipulation of speed (slow motion) in the end, emphasises the smile of Durim's face, giving an impression of nostalgia as the artist reminisces on times when he was genuinely happy.
  • Good use of base tracks. Base tracks are crucial within music videos, regardless of the genre.
  • Editing done to the beat of the song. This is also conventional within music videos to make the beat more memorable, audibly as much as visually.
  • Structure and positioning of the artist's was well thought through. For example, when Montel finishes his rap and steps back, allowing Durim to come forward and become the main focus of the music video as he sings his part.
  • Confident performance. The performance done by Montel and Durim was very confident and therefore, gave our video more convincing emotion.
Weaknesses:
  • No use of close-ups. Close ups are crucial within music videos. It would have been perfect to include a close-up just after Montel walks back onto the wall for Durim to perform. It would have given the audience a clearer introduction to Durim.
